Role Overview: Data Architect
We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Data Architect to join our team in Berkeley Heights, NJ, or Carol Springs, FL. This role is critical in defining and enforcing enterprise data strategy across both cloud and on-premise environments for our client, Pennymac Financials. As a Senior Data Architect with over 15 years of experience, you will be responsible for establishing robust data governance, driving reuse, and ensuring a single source of truth across a complex financial data landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect high-performance Operational Data Stores (ODS) and near real-time Data Warehouses using industry-standard Kimball and Inmon methodologies.
- Design comprehensive ER, Logical, Physical, and Conceptual data models to support business requirements.
- Establish and maintain governance standards, preserve data lineage, and manage an evergreen Data Catalogue using tools like Alation or Collibra.
- Lead collaborative modeling sessions with Business, IT, and BI stakeholders to translate complex requirements into functional prototypes.
- Implement and manage data strategies that support Event Streaming, Domain Driven Design (DDD), Microservices, and Data Mesh architectures.
- Perform performance tuning for databases including MongoDB, Oracle EXADATA, and Snowflake.
- Develop Python scripts for data ingestion, monitoring, and governance automation.
Technical Requirements
- 15+ years of hands-on experience in data modeling using Erwin.
- Expertise in SQL and performance tuning for MongoDB, Oracle EXADATA, and Snowflake.
- Deep understanding of Snowflake pipelines, stored procedures, and data sharing.
- 10+ years of experience in the Financial Services domain, specifically in account, card, payment, and digital processing.
- Proficiency in Excel macros, Splunk, and both reverse and forward engineering techniques.
- Experience with ETL and BI tools such as Matillion, SnapLogic, DBT, and Power BI.
- Familiarity with industry models like BIAN, IBM Banking Model, or ISO20022 is highly preferred.
Qualifications and Soft Skills
- A minimum of 15 years of total experience in data architecture and engineering.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to navigate complex, matrixed corporate environments.
- Proven ability to mentor junior staff and enforce architectural best practices across the organization.
- Strong presentation skills using PowerPoint to communicate architectural visions to stakeholders.
Special Requirements
Any Visa (I94 should fetch); Passport Number is must for submission; Financial Services domain experience required.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,600 – $145,600 per year
