Position Summary: Data Architect (Insurance Domain)
HMG America LLC is looking for a visionary Data Architect to lead the design and governance of enterprise data structures for a major insurance client. This is a hybrid role based in Madison, WI or Chicago, IL, requiring three days of onsite presence per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing data products that drive value across key insurance domains, including Customer, Claims, and Policy. You will work at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution, ensuring that data architecture aligns with modern cloud services like Azure and Snowflake.
Core Technical Competencies
- Cloud Platforms: Advanced experience with Microsoft Azure and Snowflake is required. You should have a deep understanding of how to leverage these platforms for scalable data solutions.
- Data Engineering: Proficiency in MS Fabric, Data Lakes, and Data Warehousing concepts. You must be able to design architectures that support high-volume data processing and real-time analytics.
- Modeling and Design: Expert skills in designing conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Experience in mapping data elements from complex insurance workflows to Operational Data Stores (ODS) is critical.
- Programming and Querying: Hands-on proficiency in SQL and Python for building and optimizing data pipelines and engineering workflows.
- Visualization: Ability to partner with teams to enable the creation of insights through advanced Reports and Dashboards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Define and govern the data architecture roadmap for insurance-specific domains, ensuring scalability and cost-efficiency.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and platform architects to deliver high-quality data products.
- Optimize Azure-based data platforms for performance and future extensibility, maintaining a focus on long-term architectural integrity.
- Lead the mapping of data from legacy insurance applications to modern cloud-based warehouses.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on data governance best practices and industry standards.
Professional Requirements
Candidates must possess a deep understanding of the Insurance domain, specifically regarding Customer data, Claims processing, and Policy management. We are looking for local profiles from the Illinois or Wisconsin areas who can commit to a hybrid work schedule. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in data architecture and engineering, with a proven track record of delivering complex data solutions in a corporate environment. Strong communication skills are essential for partnering with diverse teams to deliver business value through data-driven insights.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $160,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)
