Role Overview: Data Engineer for AI & Agentic Systems
As we move into 2026, the landscape of data engineering has evolved from simple pipeline management to the orchestration of complex AI agents and autonomous systems. This role, based onsite in Sunnyvale, CA, represents the cutting edge of this transformation. We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer with a deep focus on AI integration and Agentic AI to help architect the next generation of intelligent data systems for one of the world’s most innovative technology leaders.
Core Responsibilities and Technical Scope
- Design, build, and optimize large-scale distributed data pipelines using Snowflake and SQL, ensuring high performance and scalability for massive datasets.
- Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, and Agentic workflows into production data systems.
- Develop infrastructure to support agentic orchestration, including sophisticated context handling, memory persistence, and vector search integration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional AI/ML teams to deliver end-to-end AI-powered data solutions that drive transformative user experiences.
- Implement multi-agent execution patterns and communication protocols (A2A/MCP) to enable autonomous system collaboration.
- Ensure the security, availability, and scalability of data systems operating at an unprecedented global scale.
- Support data ingestion and evaluation frameworks that power foundation models and complex AI workflows.
- Utilize Tableau for secondary data visualization and cross-functional visibility into system performance and insights.
The Evolution of Agentic AI in Data Engineering
The successful candidate will not just be managing data; they will be building the ‘nervous system’ for AI agents. This involves working with modern frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, and LlamaIndex to create non-deterministic loop handling and agentic memory. You will be at the forefront of context engineering, ensuring that AI agents have the right data at the right time to make intelligent decisions. This role requires a blend of traditional data warehousing expertise (Snowflake, SQL) and modern ML engineering practices, including work with vector databases like FAISS, Milvus, or Weaviate.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $175,000 – $235,000 per year (Estimated)
