Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with pharmaceutical industry experience to assess and improve an existing data pipeline and resolve database performance and data quality issues. The consultant will conduct a comprehensive audit of the data pipeline, perform root cause analysis, and deliver a remediation roadmap to improve data accuracy, monitoring, and performance. This role requires strong communication skills, as the consultant will present findings and recommendations directly to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a full audit of the data pipeline, including: Event logging, Staging layers, Fact tables, Views, Power BI reporting.
- Perform systematic root cause analysis on the multi-campaign attribution issue, where sessions are incorrectly assigned to multiple campaigns.
- Identify and document data quality issues across the pipeline.
- Assess data validation and monitoring gaps in the current system.
- Investigate database performance issues, such as slow queries (e.g., 9-minute queries over 5M+ records).
- Analyze and recommend database optimization strategies, including indexing and query improvements.
- Deliver a prioritized remediation roadmap with level-of-effort estimates.
- Recommend a proactive monitoring strategy, including: Dashboards, Alerts, Health checks.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of Data Engineering experience.
- Pharmaceutical / Life Sciences industry experience (Required).
- Strong experience with data pipeline architecture and auditing.
- Experience with Power BI data modeling.
- Strong understanding of data quality frameworks and monitoring.
- Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization.
- Expertise in SQL and relational database systems.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis across complex data systems.
Work Hours
Must work during Client Core Hours: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM CT.
Special Requirements
All visa, Remote, C2C, Must work during Client Core Hours 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM CT.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $48 – $48 per year
