Role Overview
The Data Engineer will be a critical contributor to the engineering team, specifically supporting the 84.51 SDLC environment in Blue Ash, Ohio. This position is designed for a high-level professional with over 10 years of experience who can take full ownership of complex user stories and drive them through every phase of the development lifecycle. The successful candidate will work on both internal and external-facing applications, focusing on process improvement and the creation of robust data pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain distributed data processing solutions using Python and Microsoft Azure.
- Orchestrate multi-step data transformation pipelines to ensure seamless data flow across enterprise systems.
- Perform comprehensive unit, integration, and regression testing on all packaged code using frameworks like PyTest.
- Build transformation logic and code following strict Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles to ensure scalability.
- Enhance and optimize CI/CD pipelines to streamline the path to production and reduce deployment friction.
- Create and implement data quality checks for both ingested and post-processed data sets.
- Ensure high levels of data observability through the implementation of proactive alerting and monitoring systems.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Participate in retrospective reviews and contribute to the estimation process for new work and releases.
- Bring fresh perspectives to complex technical problems and drive improvements in how things are done.
Technical Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven professional data development experience and 2 years of SQL development.
- Proficiency with software engineering best practices and data pipeline orchestration tools.
- Expertise in Python frameworks and Object-Oriented Programming principles.
- Hands-on experience with Java and the Spring Framework.
- Experience with distributed data processing technologies such as PySpark or Snowpark.
- Strong understanding of Cloud Technologies, with a preference for Microsoft Azure (GCP or AWS also considered).
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), SOLID principles, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Proficiency with version control systems including Git and GitHub.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
