Role Overview
Altitude Technology Solutions Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineer Lead for a critical onsite engagement in Lisle, IL. As a lead in our data engineering practice, you will be the primary technical authority responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and scalability of our client’s data infrastructure. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise in legacy systems like PeopleSoft and BAAN, combined with modern cloud-native data engineering practices on Azure and AWS. You will lead a dedicated team through complex data conversion phases, ensuring that master and transactional data sets are seamlessly migrated into SAP environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end data conversion lifecycle, including scoping, extraction, mapping, and loading (ETL) of complex data sets from legacy sources into SAP Hana.
- Design and implement robust data migration components to transition data from platforms such as PeopleSoft, BAAN, and Infor LN to modern SAP ERP systems.
- Define and enforce development and test templates for data extraction, ensuring high standards of data integrity and performance.
- Evaluate, select, and deploy cutting-edge tools and technologies for data cleansing and automated extraction.
- Develop sophisticated scripts and programs using Python, Spark, and PySpark to automate repetitive data tasks and improve pipeline efficiency.
- Identify and resolve critical data duplication issues, implementing governance measures to prevent errors at the source.
- Collaborate extensively with cross-functional technology and architecture groups to align data solutions with broader business objectives.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of processes, methodologies, and best practices to ensure knowledge transfer and system maintainability.
- Monitor data quality dashboards and work with data stewards to resolve issues promptly.
Technical Environment and Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess over 6 years of technology experience, with at least 4 years focused on hands-on software development and data engineering. You should have a proven track record of deploying modern data solutions using Azure Functions, Azure Data Factory, or AWS Glue. Experience with data migration platforms like Syniti or DataStage is highly preferred. Furthermore, proficiency in data quality products such as Informatica DQ or Talend is essential for success in this role. Candidates must demonstrate a thorough understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and have participated in at least one full-cycle SAP ERP implementation. Strong analytical skills and the ability to manipulate data using SQL, Excel, and Access are required to handle complex data conversions effectively.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 per year (Estimated)
