Role Overview: Data Engineer – Snowflake

Empower Professionals Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer with a deep specialization in Snowflake, Python, and AWS to join a high-impact team in Jersey City, NJ. This is a hybrid role requiring local candidates from the New York or New Jersey area. As a Data Engineer, you will be at the forefront of building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and sophisticated data warehouse solutions that drive business intelligence and strategic decision-making for our premier clients.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Scope

  • Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for both structured and unstructured datasets, ensuring high data quality and availability.
  • Snowflake Optimization: Implement and optimize data storage, retrieval, and transformation processes within the Snowflake platform, utilizing advanced features like Snowpipe and Materialized Views.
  • Cloud Migration: Lead and participate in cloud migration initiatives, transitioning legacy data pipelines from on-premise systems to AWS and Snowflake environments.
  • Full SDLC Participation: Engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including strategic planning, requirement gathering, development, rigorous testing, and quality assurance.
  • Orchestration & Automation: Integrate and manage complex workload orchestration using Apache Airflow and Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS) to ensure seamless data flow.
  • Python Scripting: Develop modular, reusable, and testable Python-based data processing scripts with a focus on performance and maintainability.
  • SQL Mastery: Write and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures for high-volume, high-performance applications, ensuring efficient data manipulation.
  • Production Support: Troubleshoot production incidents, identify root causes, implement permanent fixes, and document preventive measures to maintain system reliability.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Snowflake Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with the Snowflake platform; Snowflake certification is highly preferred.
  • Database Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL, including analytical functions and performance tuning.
  • Cloud Services: Solid working knowledge of AWS cloud services (S3, EC2, Lambda, etc.) as they relate to data engineering.
  • Data Modeling: Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling (Star/Snowflake schemas), and ETL best practices.
  • Scripting: Strong hands-on experience in Python, specifically for ETL concepts, and proficiency in Unix/Linux shell scripting.
  • Metadata Management: Good understanding of metadata management and data lineage to ensure data governance and transparency.

Work Environment and Benefits

This position offers a dynamic hybrid work environment in Jersey City, NJ, allowing for a balance of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration. The duration is expected to be 12+ months with potential for extension. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with top-tier vendors and clients such as Apex Systems, Sogeti, and CapGemini. Compensation & Location

Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Jersey City, NJ
