Role Overview
Source InfoTech Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer with specialized expertise in the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to support a critical project requiring previous experience within the CVS Health ecosystem. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States while contributing to large-scale data initiatives. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers advanced analytics and machine learning models for one of the nation’s leading healthcare providers. This role demands a blend of technical mastery in cloud data services and a deep understanding of healthcare data domains.
Technical Environment
The core of this role involves the orchestration and management of data pipelines within GCP. You will be the subject matter expert for Google BigQuery, responsible for designing warehouse schemas, optimizing query performance through partitioning and clustering, and ensuring data integrity across the platform. The tech stack includes Google Cloud Dataflow for stream and batch processing, Cloud Composer (Airflow) for workflow orchestration, and Cloud Dataproc for managed Spark/Hadoop clusters. You will also leverage Cloud Pub/Sub for real-time data ingestion and Cloud Storage for scalable data lake management.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement scalable ETL/ELT processes using GCP native tools and services.
- Build and optimize data processing workflows with Cloud Dataflow, BigQuery, and Cloud Composer.
- Manage data ingestion from a variety of structured and unstructured sources into BigQuery data warehouses.
- Develop and maintain complex data models and warehouse schemas to support business intelligence and ML use cases.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment and testing of data workflows.
- Ensure robust data governance, security, and IAM role management within the GCP environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Data Scientists and Analysts, to deliver actionable insights and support analytics.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks in high-volume, high-velocity data systems.
- Optimize query performance and implement cost-saving strategies for cloud resource utilization.
Healthcare Data Context
Working within the context of healthcare data requires a deep understanding of compliance, data privacy, and industry-specific standards. Your previous experience at CVS Health will be invaluable in navigating the specific data structures, legacy systems, and regulatory requirements inherent in this industry. You will be expected to implement best-in-class monitoring and validation tools to ensure that data quality remains uncompromised. This role is not just about moving data; it is about ensuring that the data is accurate, secure, and ready for critical healthcare decision-making processes.
Operational Excellence
Operational excellence is a core pillar of this role; you will not only build systems but also ensure they are cost-effective and highly available. This involves managing GCP budgets, optimizing resource allocation, and staying ahead of the curve with the latest GCP feature releases. You will be responsible for maintaining high availability of data systems and ensuring that all pipelines are resilient to failures. The project demands a proactive approach to system health and a commitment to continuous improvement in data engineering practices.
Mandatory Qualifications
This position has a strict requirement for former CVS Health experience. Candidates must provide genuine references and valid identification to verify their previous tenure at CVS. From a technical standpoint, deep experience with GCP data services is non-negotiable. You should be proficient in SQL, Python, or Java for data manipulation and have a strong understanding of cloud security best practices. A proven track record of implementing CI/CD for data and managing complex IAM configurations is highly desirable.
Special Requirements
Visa: USC, GC, H4 EAD, GC EAD; Mandatory Ex-CVS Health experience; Remote; Genuine references and ID required.
