Position Summary
Avance Consulting is currently seeking a Lead Data Modeler for a high-impact, 6-month contract position based onsite in Plano, TX. This role is critical for an organization looking to modernize its data infrastructure and requires a leader who can bridge the gap between complex business requirements and technical database design. The Lead Data Modeler will be responsible for the integrity, scalability, and performance of the enterprise data models.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of complex database structures that support both transactional and analytical workloads.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive conceptual, logical, and physical data models using industry-standard tools like Erwin or PowerDesigner.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical data specifications.
- Optimize database queries and structures to ensure high performance and low latency across the data ecosystem.
- Provide expert guidance on data warehousing principles and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure seamless data flow.
- Establish and enforce industry best practices for data modeling, naming conventions, and database design standards.
Technical Expertise Required
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and a deep understanding of relational and non-relational data modeling concepts.
- Extensive hands-on experience with data modeling software, specifically Erwin or SAP PowerDesigner.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale data architecture projects within a corporate environment.
- Familiarity with modern data stack components, including cloud data warehouses and real-time data processing.
- Ability to perform rigorous data analysis to identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for structural improvement.
Leadership and Communication
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for data modeling within the organization, mentoring junior staff and guiding cross-functional teams.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including project managers and business executives.
- Drive the continuous improvement of data governance policies and metadata management.
- Ensure all data models comply with security and privacy regulations, maintaining the highest standards of data integrity.
Candidate Requirements
- Must be local to the Texas area or willing to work onsite in Plano, TX.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience in a lead or senior capacity within a data-centric team.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $155,000 – $205,000 per year
