Position Summary
We are looking for a dedicated Data & Performance Test Engineer for a contract position located onsite in Roseville, CA. This role is critical for the PEM team, focusing on testing, quality assurance, and data experiments for upcoming product releases. The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in storage system performance testing and high-resolution data conversion, specifically within the context of enterprise-grade hardware environments.
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive performance testing and QA for deep storage systems, focusing on hardware-level performance rather than standard server metrics.
- Work extensively with HPE Arrays and related technologies, including Arcus, Alletra, MSA, XP, EVA, and AutoRaid, as well as Hitachi Arrays.
- Perform data engineering tasks involving high-resolution data conversion, such as transforming performance data in Excel or CSV formats for downstream analysis tools.
- Develop and maintain robust plotting and charting solutions for performance data visualization.
- Administer and operate within both Windows and Linux environments at a super-user or administrator level.
- Apply advanced mathematical and computational skills to analyze performance bottlenecks and system behavior.
- Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash Shell, and PowerShell to streamline testing processes.
- Utilize specialized performance tools such as VESPER, VDBench, and VBA-based Excel engines.
- Support and provide backup for the Lab Support Expert role as needed.
Required Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with HPE and Hitachi storage array technologies.
- Proficiency in performance benchmarking tools like VDBench and VESPER.
- Strong scripting capabilities in Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
- Advanced Excel skills, including VBA and Visual Basic Excel Engine for data modeling.
- Experience with MathCAD and State Machine logic.
- Deep understanding of storage protocols and performance characteristics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
- Proven experience in performance testing for large-scale storage environments.
- Exceptional analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to work onsite in Roseville, CA and manage physical lab requirements.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $108,160 – $108,160 per year
