We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Database Architect with specialized expertise in Databricks to join our dynamic team in Boston, MA. This hybrid role is designed for a professional who thrives at the intersection of cloud architecture and data engineering, specifically within the high-stakes environment of Capital Markets. As a Database Architect, you will be responsible for the blueprinting, implementation, and optimization of our next-generation cloud data platforms. Your primary focus will be leveraging Databricks on AWS to create a robust, scalable, and high-performance Lakehouse architecture that supports complex analytics and real-time reporting. In the evolving landscape of 2026, data is the primary asset of any financial institution, and your role will be pivotal in ensuring that our data infrastructure is not only resilient but also provides a competitive edge through advanced processing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and design comprehensive cloud-based data platforms utilizing Databricks on the AWS ecosystem, ensuring alignment with enterprise-level security and performance standards.
  • Develop and optimize scalable data architectures including Delta Lake, Spark clusters, and Lakehouse patterns to handle petabyte-scale datasets.
  • Establish and enforce data modeling standards and integration protocols for enterprise-wide analytics, ensuring consistency across various business units.
  • Provide strategic architectural guidance and mentorship to data engineering and business intelligence teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
  • Ensure the highest standards of data performance, reliability, security, and governance across all platforms, adhering to strict financial industry regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders in the Capital Markets domain to align technical solutions with business objectives, such as reducing latency in trading data flows.
  • Lead the migration of legacy data structures into modern, cloud-native environments using automated migration tools and best practices.
  • Implement automated CI/CD pipelines for data workflows and infrastructure as code (IaC) to streamline deployment processes.

Technical Requirements

  • Expert-level proficiency in Databricks, including Apache Spark, Delta Lake, notebooks, jobs, and advanced performance tuning techniques.
  • Deep experience with AWS services such as S3, EC2, Lambda, IAM, and Glue, with a focus on cost-optimization and security.
  • Strong foundation in RDBMS concepts, advanced SQL, and complex data modeling techniques (Star Schema, Snowflake, Data Vault).
  • Programming mastery in Python and/or Scala for data processing, automation, and custom library development.
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting for system-level tasks and automation.
  • Experience with data orchestration tools like Airflow or Dagster and comprehensive monitoring frameworks.

Domain and Soft Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of Capital Markets operations, including trading lifecycles, risk management, and reference data management.
  • Proven track record supporting reference data and regulatory reporting systems (e.g., CAT, MiFID II, or similar frameworks).
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical executives and business leaders.
  • Strong leadership qualities with a focus on mentoring junior engineers and making critical architectural decisions under pressure.

This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the data strategy of a leading financial institution. By joining our team, you will work on cutting-edge technologies and solve complex data challenges that have a direct impact on our market competitiveness. We value innovation, precision, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. As we move further into 2026, the integration of AI and machine learning directly into the data layer via Databricks will be a key focus area, and you will be at the forefront of this transformation. If you are a Databricks expert looking to make a significant mark in the Capital Markets space, we encourage you to apply and help us build the future of financial data.
