- Provide high-level architectural guidance and mentorship to data engineering teams, ensuring best practices in code quality, performance tuning, and modular design.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders in the Capital Markets domain to align technical solutions with business requirements such as risk management, trading analytics, and regulatory compliance.
- Implement rigorous data governance, security, and reliability frameworks to protect sensitive financial data and ensure system uptime.
- Evaluate emerging technologies within the Databricks and AWS ecosystems to maintain a competitive edge in data processing capabilities.
Technical Requirements and Expertise
- Expert-level proficiency in Databricks, including deep knowledge of Spark SQL, PySpark, Delta Live Tables, and Unity Catalog.
- Extensive experience with AWS cloud services, specifically S3, EC2, Lambda, IAM, and AWS Glue for ETL orchestration.
- Strong foundation in RDBMS concepts, advanced SQL optimization, and multi-dimensional data modeling (Star/Snowflake schemas).
- Advanced programming skills in Python and/or Scala, with a focus on building reusable and testable data frameworks.
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting for automation and system maintenance.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale data migrations or greenfield data platform implementations in a cloud environment.
Domain Knowledge and Professional Attributes
- Deep understanding of Capital Markets operations, including trade lifecycles, market data flows, and reference data management.
- Experience supporting critical financial systems such as risk engines, regulatory reporting (e.g., CAT, MiFID II), and high-frequency trading platforms.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical executive stakeholders.
- Strong leadership qualities with a proven ability to make decisive architectural choices under pressure.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying abreast of the latest trends in Big Data and AI/ML integration.
