Role Overview

GVR Infotek LLC is currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Database Engineer with a specialized focus on Python programming to join a centralized database engineering group based in Alpharetta, Georgia. This position is a long-term consulting engagement designed for a professional who can build, support, and optimize PostgreSQL and related database environments within a secure global infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the software infrastructure necessary to operate and integrate relational databases into a secure global environment, ensuring that all systems meet the highest standards of performance, security, supportability, and maintainability. This role requires a hybrid work schedule, with three days per week on-site in Alpharetta, GA.

Core Responsibilities

  • Engineer and sustain complex scripts for the support and maintenance of relational databases, with a primary focus on PostgreSQL environments.
  • Ensure that all database products and integrations meet rigorous security, supportability, and performance requirements as defined by the enterprise architecture.
  • Create, review, maintain, and update comprehensive technical documentation, including the publication of fixes and troubleshooting guides to a central knowledge base.
  • Disseminate technical knowledge among colleagues and collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members to ensure seamless database operations.
  • Support and integrate relational databases into enterprise-scale infrastructures, focusing on scalability and reliability in a global context.
  • Develop and implement automation tools using Python to streamline database management tasks and reduce manual intervention.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively address potential bottlenecks or security vulnerabilities.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of professional programming experience, with a significant and recent focus on Python development.
  • High level of competence in multiple programming languages; while Python is the primary requirement, experience with Perl, ksh, and C is considered a strong plus.
  • Proven experience working with various Python frameworks to build robust and scalable software solutions.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of UNIX and/or Linux system internals, including shell scripting and system administration.
  • Solid SQL programming skills with specific, hands-on experience in PostgreSQL database management and optimization.
  • Familiarity with common third-party tools used to manage and monitor large-scale database environments.
  • Practical experience in the implementation and utilization of Kerberos for secure authentication within distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to design enterprise-level, large-scale software infrastructures that support global operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset and the ability to work effectively in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in highly secure, global database environments where data integrity and availability are paramount. You should be comfortable working in a centralized engineering group that serves multiple business units, requiring a high degree of collaboration and standardization. Experience publishing documentation and fixes to central knowledge bases is highly valued, as it contributes to the overall efficiency of the engineering team. As a Database Engineer in 2026, you will be expected to stay abreast of emerging database technologies and security trends, ensuring that the organization’s data infrastructure remains cutting-edge and resilient against evolving threats.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
