Role Overview
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Lead to join our enterprise technology team. This is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and optimization of our relational database systems across multiple strategic locations, including Jersey City, NJ, Dallas, TX, and Tampa, FL. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in database architecture, ensuring that our data infrastructure is robust, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. This position requires a deep technical background in SQL development and a forward-thinking approach to cloud-based database solutions, particularly within the AWS ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of complex SQL stored procedures to support high-volume transaction processing and business logic requirements.
- Design and implement relational data models that ensure data integrity and support the evolving needs of the organization’s applications.
- Manage and optimize Aurora PostgreSQL databases on AWS, leveraging cloud-native features to enhance performance and reliability.
- Conduct comprehensive SQL performance tuning, identifying and resolving bottlenecks to ensure optimal query execution and system responsiveness.
- Oversee ETL processes using Informatica PowerCenter, ensuring seamless data integration and movement across various platforms.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior database administrators and developers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and system architects, to define database requirements and deliver integrated solutions.
- Ensure the security and compliance of database environments, implementing best practices for data protection and access control.
- Maintain and administer Microsoft SQL Server 2019 environments, performing regular updates, backups, and recovery procedures.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation for database schemas, workflows, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 8-10 years of extensive experience in database administration and development within a large-scale enterprise environment.
- Proven expertise in SQL stored procedure development and advanced relational data modeling techniques.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and other cloud-based database services.
- Strong proficiency in Informatica PowerCenter for complex data integration and ETL workflows.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and general database management system (DBMS) principles.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to tune database performance for high-demand applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead technical teams and present complex information to stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
Work Environment and Duration
This is an onsite position requiring physical presence at one of our designated office locations in Jersey City, Dallas, or Tampa. The initial contract duration is 6 months, with a strong possibility of extension based on project milestones and individual performance. Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
