Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Desktop Support Engineer to join our infrastructure services team in Southington, CT. This is a critical role focused on maintaining the integrity and performance of our Windows desktop environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, customizing, and maintaining Windows desktop images using modern management tools such as Microsoft Intune and Autopilot. This position requires a professional who is local to the Southington area, as the role involves a consistent onsite presence of 3 to 4 days per week, totaling approximately 32 to 34 hours weekly.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain standardized Windows desktop images to ensure a consistent user experience across the organization.
- Utilize Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot for modern provisioning and deployment of hardware.
- Integrate essential drivers, security patches, and software baselines into base images to maintain compliance with organizational security standards.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks and image customization processes.
- Manage Azure AD join and hybrid join automations to streamline identity management and device enrollment.
- Oversee the deployment of Windows updates, feature upgrades, and firmware updates using Endpoint Configuration Manager and Intune.
- Validate all updates in a dedicated test environment before initiating production rollouts to minimize business disruption.
- Troubleshoot complex update failures and endpoint configuration issues, providing root cause analysis and remediation.
- Manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and Intune Device Configuration Profiles to enforce security baselines and compliance policies.
- Collaborate with the broader Infrastructure Services (IS) team to ensure seamless integration of desktop services with network and server environments.
Technical Requirements
- 6 to 8 years of professional experience in Desktop Support or Endpoint Management.
- Expertise in Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, and Azure Active Directory.
- Strong proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and configuration management.
- In-depth knowledge of Windows 10/11 operating systems and imaging technologies.
- Experience with GPO management and security baseline implementation.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale update deployments and troubleshoot endpoint failures.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid/onsite environment.
Work Environment and Schedule
This role is designed for a professional who values a balanced work week. The schedule is set for 32-34 hours per week, requiring 3 to 4 days of onsite work at our Southington, CT facility. Candidates must be local to the area to ensure they can meet the onsite requirements without significant travel burden. Compensation & Location
Salary: $78,000 – $105,000 per year (Estimated)
