Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and specialized DevOps Engineer to join our cutting-edge R&D team in Santa Clara, CA. This is not a standard software DevOps role; it is deeply integrated with IoT and Embedded Systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for bridging the gap between traditional software delivery and hardware-centric environments, ensuring that our embedded systems are developed, tested, and deployed with the highest standards of security and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines specifically tailored for embedded systems and IoT devices.
- Implement and manage automated code scanning and secure coding standards, including MISRA compliance, integrated directly into Jenkins nodes.
- Develop and maintain Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) to identify and mitigate dependencies and vulnerabilities within the system architecture.
- Automate infrastructure and configuration management using tools such as Ansible, Salt, and Terraform.
- Manage containerization and orchestration using Podman and Kubernetes within an R&D ecosystem.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to implement Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and security validation.
- Utilize specialized tools including VectorCast, Coverity, Linters, JFrog, and Blackduck to ensure code quality and security.
- Perform regular system optimizations, troubleshooting performance bottlenecks in regulated machine environments.
Technical Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5-8 years of proven experience in a DevOps capacity, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked on the embedded systems side.
- Expertise in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and Terraform.
- Deep understanding of security-first mindsets and experience working within regulated environments.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and artifact repositories like Nexus or JFrog.
- Familiarity with monitoring stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK.
Professional Attributes
The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic R&D environment. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams. We value continuous learning and the ability to adapt to emerging trends in infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native technologies. Leadership qualities and a track record of mentoring junior team members are highly desirable as we continue to scale our operations.
Special Requirements
Hybrid model; Local to Bay area; C2C; R&D focused; Tools: VectorCast, Coverity, Linters, Jfrog, Blackduck; MISRA standards; SBOM creation.
