Job Summary:
We are seeking a Distribution Operations DER Engineer to join our team. This role is crucial for supporting the development and implementation of the Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Management program. The position involves evaluating system impacts, understanding DER standards, and working with communication protocols for remotely operable distribution devices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data programming, computer literacy, and experience with relevant software and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development of the DER Management program at PPL.
- Evaluate system impacts of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs).
- Understand and apply DER standards, including energy storage (battery) and solar PV inverters.
- Work with communication protocols for remotely operable distribution devices.
- Assist in voltage optimization, hosting capacity, and power flow analysis.
- Provide support for voltage management and DER reporting.
- Collaborate with teams on network communication, data mapping, process development, and system operations requirements.
- Utilize Excel frequently for data programming tasks.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree required.
- Computer literacy in essential functions like Outlook, virtual desktop, and Teams.
- Solid understanding of data programming and Excel.
- Experience with Distributed Energy Resource (DER) planning and evaluating system impacts.
- Familiarity with DER standards including energy storage (battery) and solar PV inverters.
- Working knowledge of IEEE 1547.2018 and UL 1741.
- Experience with voltage optimization, hosting capacity, and power flow analysis.
- Experience with communications of remotely operable distribution devices.
- Mid to senior level experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PYTHON experience (1 year preferred).
- Computer Programming background preferred.
- MODBUS 2030.5 experience preferred.
- Experience in voltage management and DER reporting.
Special Requirements
Hybrid (Tues-Thurs in office, Mon/Fri from home). Role is heavy in data programming. Working in excel frequently. PYTHON experience 1 yr is preferred. Computer Programming background preferred. Computer literacy in essential functions like Outlook, virtual desktop and Teams are required. MODBUS 2030.5 experience preferred. Experience: mid to senior experience.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $60 – $80 per year (Estimated)
