This is a critical onsite role requiring a deep understanding of the ELK stack to support our growing data infrastructure needs. As an Elasticsearch Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of our Elastic clusters, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability for various logging and search use cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, and maintain robust Elasticsearch clusters tailored for high-volume logging and real-time data analysis.
  • Implement and manage Index Lifecycle Management (ILM) policies to automate data transitions between different storage tiers.
  • Design and execute a Hot-Warm-Cold architecture to optimize storage costs while maintaining search performance for critical data.
  • Develop and configure index templates to enforce data consistency and implement best practices across all indices.
  • Perform cluster sizing and capacity planning based on evolving business requirements and performance metrics.
  • Utilize Ansible for automated deployment, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code initiatives.
  • Write and maintain complex Unix shell scripts to automate routine operational tasks and system optimizations.
  • Manage version control for all configurations and scripts using GIT, fostering a collaborative DevOps environment.
  • Plan and execute seamless Elastic Stack upgrades and security patching with a focus on zero-downtime deployments.
  • Create comprehensive Grafana dashboards to provide real-time visibility into cluster health, performance, and data trends.
  • Establish and manage proactive alerting systems to detect and resolve cluster issues before they impact users.
  • Integrate data ingestion pipelines using Logstash, Kafka, and Beats to ensure reliable log forwarding and processing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across the entire ELK stack, including performance bottlenecks and data integrity problems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and product teams to design and implement search solutions for specific business use cases.

Technical Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience with the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and Beats).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Ruby or Python for data manipulation and automation.
  • Strong expertise in Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting.
  • Proven experience with infrastructure automation tools, specifically Ansible.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, networking, and data storage principles.
  • Experience with message brokers like Kafka for high-throughput data ingestion.

Soft Skills and Professionalism

Beyond technical expertise, the ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. You should be a proactive team player who can communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for documenting architectures and collaborating effectively within an agile environment.
