Position Summary: Failure Analysis Engineer
Flexon Technologies is currently hiring for a specialized Electrical Silicon Failure Analysis (FA) Engineer to join our client’s team in Austin, TX. This is a full-time onsite position requiring a high level of technical expertise in semiconductor failure analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying the root causes of failures at both the device and system levels, utilizing a wide array of advanced electrical and physical fault isolation tools. This role is critical to the product development lifecycle, ensuring the reliability and performance of silicon-based technologies through rigorous testing and analysis.
Core Responsibilities
- Execute day-to-day failure analysis activities for integrated circuits (IC) and module-level components.
- Perform electrical fault isolation (EFA) using sophisticated tools to pinpoint defects within silicon structures.
- Conduct physical failure analysis (PFA) to characterize defects and understand failure mechanisms.
- Generate detailed technical reports documenting FA findings, methodologies, and recommendations for design or process improvements.
- Evaluate, calibrate, and maintain state-of-the-art FA equipment and stay updated on emerging techniques.
- Collaborate with design and process engineering teams to implement corrective actions based on analysis results.
- Manage multiple FA projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
Technical Skills and Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or an equivalent degree in Engineering or Physics. A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in IC and module-level failure analysis is required. Proficiency with a variety of EFA and PFA tools is essential, including but not limited to: Laser Induced Tomography (LIT), Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR), Focused Ion Beam (FIB), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Reactive Ion Etching (RIE), Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP), and Mechanical Ion Polishing (MIP). Experience with decapsulation, sample preparation, emission microscopy, laser-scan microscopy, and both micro-probing and nano-probing is highly preferred. Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex technical data clearly are vital for success in this role.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $140,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
