Role Overview

Vyze Inc. is looking for a visionary Enterprise Architect to lead a transformative 35-year target architecture initiative for one of our premier clients in the manufacturing sector. This is a high-impact, hybrid role based in Morris Plains, NJ, requiring three days of onsite collaboration per week. As an Enterprise Architect, you will be the primary strategist responsible for defining the technological roadmap across ERP systems, Industrial IoT (IIoT) platforms, and advanced data mesh architectures. With a focus on manufacturing IT/OT convergence, you will bridge the gap between shop floor operations and cloud-based enterprise intelligence, ensuring a secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure for decades to come. This role is not just about current solutions but about building a legacy architecture that can withstand the rapid pace of technological change in the global industrial landscape.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Define, implement, and maintain the 35-year target architecture, ensuring it remains adaptable to future innovations in AI, edge computing, and industrial automation.
  • Lead the Architecture Review Board (ARB) for all manufacturing-aligned initiatives, serving as the final authority on solution designs and remediation strategies.
  • Partner with Product and Program Owners to de-risk the delivery of massive ERP modernization projects, including global rollouts of SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, and Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Establish enterprise-wide standards and guardrails for integration patterns, cloud/on-premise hybrid models, and edge-to-cloud infrastructure.
  • Define and enforce rigorous Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) including 99.99% availability, disaster recoverability, sub-millisecond latency for edge cases, and global regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with global teams on network segmentation (Purdue Model), asset inventory management, and the establishment of safe patching windows for production-critical systems.
  • Work closely with Data and AI leaders to define data domains, Master Data Management (MDM) strategies, and high-speed pipelines from the shop floor to the cloud.
  • Enable advanced real-time analytics use cases, including anomaly detection, energy consumption monitoring, predictive maintenance, and computer vision for quality control.

Technical Expertise and Security

  • Embed security-by-design across the entire technology stack, implementing Zero Trust architectures, robust identity management, and secure SDLC practices.
  • Ensure strict adherence to cybersecurity requirements and regulatory expectations, particularly ISA/IEC 62443 for industrial control systems.
  • Demonstrate 10+ years of proficiency in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), with a deep understanding of hybrid/edge patterns and SD-WAN fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with a wide array of integration patterns, including APIs, EDI, message queues, event streams, and industrial protocols like OPC UA and MQTT.
  • Expertise in modern data platforms, including Snowflake (Lakehouse patterns), streaming data, and edge computing nodes.
  • Familiarity with PLM/ALM systems and the “Digital Thread” concept, as well as EAM/CMMS systems like IBM Maximo or SAP PM.

Qualifications and Leadership

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in IT, with at least 10 years dedicated to enterprise or solution architecture in complex environments.
  • At least 7 years of experience specifically within manufacturing IT/OT environments, understanding the unique challenges of the factory floor.
  • Proven track record of leading global MES standardizations or greenfield/brownfield plant rollouts on a multi-national scale.
  • Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, SAFe Architect, Azure/AWS Solutions Architect, CISSP, CISM, or ISA/IEC 62443 are highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and align cross-functional leaders in Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and Finance.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex architectural concepts to C-suite executives and shop floor managers alike.
