Job Description: ETL Data Engineer
We are seeking an experienced ETL Data Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in data engineering or ETL development. This role requires strong hands-on experience with a variety of tools and technologies, including Talend (ETL/ELT), IBM DataStage, Python (pandas, PySpark, API integrations), and Big Data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Hive, and Kafka.
The ideal candidate will possess expertise in data engineering design patterns and best practices, along with strong experience in both SQL and NoSQL databases. Familiarity with orchestration tools like Airflow, Control M, or Talend scheduler is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement robust ETL processes.
- Optimize data pipelines for performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements.
- Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the data lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Work with Big Data technologies to process and analyze large datasets.
- Implement and manage data orchestration workflows.
- Develop and maintain documentation for ETL processes and data models.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering.
Required Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering or ETL development.
- Proficiency in Talend (ETL/ELT) and/or IBM DataStage.
- Strong programming skills in Python (pandas, PySpark).
- Experience with Big Data technologies: Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Kafka.
- Expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, Control M, Talend scheduler).
- Understanding of data engineering design patterns and best practices.
- Experience with API integrations.

This is a contract position located in Naperville, IL. Candidates must be local to the Naperville, IL area.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $70,000 – $120,000 per year (Estimated)
