Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Financial/Banking Project Manager for a long-term contract engagement with our end client, American Express (AMEX), located in New York, NY. This role requires a seasoned professional with over 12 years of experience in the financial services sector, specifically focusing on risk management, privacy, and regulatory-driven programs. The position follows a hybrid work model, requiring three days on-site in the New York office and two days of remote work. The successful candidate will be responsible for navigating complex regulatory landscapes and ensuring that project deliverables align with both business objectives and stringent compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex, large-scale projects within the financial and banking domain, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with diverse stakeholders across various business units to shape project approaches, align priorities, and manage critical trade-offs in a fast-paced environment.
- Translate complex privacy and regulatory concepts into actionable, enterprise-ready project plans and technical solutions.
- Drive comprehensive risk management initiatives, identifying potential bottlenecks and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity and compliance.
- Develop and deliver executive-ready narratives and presentations, distilling complex technical and regulatory topics into clear, concise stories for senior leadership.
- Manage multiple concurrent workstreams, maintaining a focus on delivery, high-quality outcomes, and adherence to timelines.
- Influence stakeholders across functions and levels without direct authority, fostering a collaborative and delivery-focused team environment.
- Ensure all project deliverables meet the stringent security and privacy standards required by the global banking industry.
- Facilitate regular project status meetings, providing transparent reporting on milestones, risks, and resource allocation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of professional experience in project management specifically within the financial services or banking industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing privacy, risk, or regulatory-driven programs at an enterprise level.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to engage and influence executive-level stakeholders effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a structured approach to connecting execution to broader business objectives.
- Experience in a consultative, project-based role is highly preferred, demonstrating adaptability and stakeholder management prowess.
- Deep understanding of the regulatory environment affecting global financial institutions.
