Position Overview

The Frontend Technical Lead will be a pivotal figure in our Malvern-based engineering team, driving the evolution of our digital platforms. This role requires a deep technical background in modern JavaScript frameworks and a strategic mindset for cloud-native application delivery. You will be responsible for setting the technical direction for frontend projects, ensuring that our applications are not only functional but also performant, secure, and accessible. As a leader, you will bridge the gap between complex business requirements and elegant technical solutions, fostering an environment of innovation and excellence.

Core Responsibilities

  • Architect and lead the development of complex frontend applications using Angular 15+ and React, ensuring a consistent and high-quality user experience across all platforms.
  • Define and enforce engineering best practices, including coding standards, component architecture, and state management strategies using RxJS, Redux, or Zustand.
  • Design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or AWS CodePipeline to automate the build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate closely with UX designers to translate wireframes into responsive, modular, and accessible UI components following WCAG guidelines.
  • Lead the integration of frontend applications with AWS services such as S3, CloudFront, API Gateway, and Lambda, optimizing for performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and provide technical mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
  • Manage technical debt and drive the modernization of legacy frontend systems to contemporary frameworks and patterns.
  • Work with security teams to implement OWASP best practices, secure token handling, and dependency vulnerability scanning.

Technical Excellence

The ideal candidate will possess an expert-level understanding of TypeScript and the Node.js ecosystem. You should be comfortable navigating complex build tools and middleware integrations. Experience with micro-frontends is highly desirable, as we look to scale our applications. Your expertise in automated testing frameworks like Jest, Cypress, or Playwright will be crucial in maintaining high code quality and reliability. Furthermore, a strong background in AWS infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform or CDK will allow you to contribute to the full lifecycle of application delivery. You will be expected to stay abreast of the latest industry trends and evaluate new technologies that can enhance our development velocity and product quality.

Leadership and Collaboration

Beyond technical skills, we are looking for a leader who can influence architectural decisions and navigate complex technical environments. You will act as a bridge between product management, backend engineering, and cloud operations teams. Your ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and manage release planning, including sizing and risk mitigation, will be key to your success in this role. Experience in the BFSI or Capital Markets domain will provide a significant advantage in understanding our business logic and regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in sprint execution and technical delivery planning, ensuring that the team meets its commitments while maintaining high standards of engineering integrity.

Special Requirements

Local to Malvern, PA. Knowledge of BFSI/Capital Markets domain is a plus.
