Role Overview
Exaways Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Full Stack Software Engineer for a critical contract engagement. This position is designed for a seasoned professional with a minimum of six years of experience in the software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the development of sophisticated web applications, ensuring high performance, and maintaining a seamless user experience. This role offers the flexibility of being based in either Dallas, TX, or Oakland, CA, and requires a deep understanding of both frontend and backend technologies. As a Senior Engineer, you will be at the forefront of implementing modern architectural patterns and leveraging cutting-edge AI tools to streamline development processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement end-to-end full stack applications using Java and the Spring Boot framework to meet complex business requirements.
- Develop and maintain high-performance, scalable RESTful APIs and microservices architectures that support high-traffic environments.
- Create responsive, intuitive, and visually appealing user interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices and enterprise-level coding standards.
- Integrate and leverage AI-assisted development tools, specifically GitHub Copilot, to enhance coding efficiency, improve code quality, and accelerate delivery timelines.
- Lead and participate in technical architecture discussions, providing expert insights into system design, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
- Conduct rigorous code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to ensure the highest level of engineering excellence across the team.
- Optimize application performance, security, and reliability across the entire technology stack, from the database to the browser.
- Collaborate closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams to manage CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production issues, performing root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, technical growth, and collaborative problem-solving.
Required Technical Skills and Qualifications
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in software engineering with a proven track record in full stack development.
- Deep expertise in Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem, including Spring Security, Spring Data, and Spring Cloud.
- Extensive experience building and deploying microservices and RESTful web services in a distributed environment.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern front-end framework: React, Angular, or Vue.js, along with HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools like GitHub Copilot or similar LLM-based development assistants.
- Comprehensive knowledge of database systems, including relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL solutions (MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and modern CI/CD workflows using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with a focus on iterative delivery and continuous improvement.
- Solid understanding of system design principles, including load balancing, caching strategies, and performance optimization.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $150,000 – $210,000 per year (Estimated)
