Job ID: 979

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced GCP Cloud Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade data solutions on the Google Cloud Platform. This role is based fully onsite in Columbus, Ohio, and requires a visionary professional capable of architecting complex data pipelines and managing large-scale cloud migrations. As a senior member of the technical team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of data architecture, from initial ingestion to advanced analytics and storage optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing Data Solutions: Architecting robust data pipelines that handle the seamless ingestion, transformation, storage, and analysis of massive datasets.
  • Technology Selection: Evaluating and choosing the optimal mix of GCP services, including Bigtable, AlloyDB, BigQuery, Firestore, and Firebase, to meet specific business and performance requirements.
  • Real-time Processing: Implementing real-time data processing solutions using Google Cloud Dataflow and Pub/Sub to support low-latency business intelligence.
  • Cloud Migration: Leading the migration of existing on-premises or multi-cloud NoSQL and SQL workloads to GCP, with a specific focus on leveraging AlloyDB for high-performance relational needs.
  • Data Modeling: Structuring data for optimal storage and query performance, utilizing both relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) models tailored to application needs.
  • Governance and Security: Implementing enterprise-grade security measures, including data access controls, encryption at rest and in transit, and ensuring strict compliance with global data regulations.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Utilizing Terraform or Google Cloud Deployment Manager to automate the provisioning of cloud resources and maintain environment consistency.

Technical Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in the Google Cloud ecosystem. You should have a proven track record of deploying production-level architectures using BigQuery for data warehousing and Dataflow for ETL processes. Experience with AlloyDB is highly preferred, as is a strong understanding of VPC networking, IAM roles, and Cloud Security Command Center. You must be comfortable working in a collaborative environment, providing technical mentorship to junior engineers while aligning architectural decisions with executive business goals.

Professional Qualifications

Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure and software development, with a minimum of 5 years dedicated to cloud architecture. Professional GCP Certifications (Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Data Engineer) are strongly preferred. Excellent communication skills are essential, as this role requires presenting complex technical strategies to non-technical stakeholders. This is a long-term contract opportunity for a professional looking to make a significant impact on a major enterprise cloud transformation project.
