Job Description: GCP Data Engineer (Migration Specialist)
Adventa Tech is seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient GCP Data Engineer for a long-term (12+ months) contract engagement. This role is specifically focused on a high-priority data migration project, moving enterprise data assets from legacy Teradata environments to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in cloud data architecture, possessing the hands-on skills required to build, optimize, and maintain complex data pipelines. While the role offers remote flexibility, we are strictly looking for candidates currently residing in the Dallas, TX area to facilitate occasional in-person strategy sessions and local team alignment.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the technical execution of data migration strategies from Teradata to Google Cloud Platform, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines using GCP tools such as Cloud Composer (Airflow), BigQuery, and Dataflow.
- Develop robust ETL/ELT processes using Python and SQL to transform raw data into actionable insights for business stakeholders.
- Architect and maintain data warehousing structures, demonstrating a deep understanding of how modern cloud data warehouses are built and optimized.
- Collaborate with source system owners to extract data from claims systems and other upstream vendor sources, ensuring proper formatting for GCP ingestion.
- Perform performance tuning on BigQuery environments to manage costs and improve query execution times for large-scale datasets.
- Ensure all data engineering practices align with enterprise security, governance, and compliance standards.
- Provide technical documentation for all developed pipelines and migration workflows to ensure long-term maintainability.
Required Technical Skills
- Minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering or a related field.
- At least 2+ years of dedicated experience working within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem.
- Mandatory proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and automation.
- Proven experience with GCP Data Migration tools and services, specifically BigQuery and Cloud Composer.
- Direct experience moving large-scale datasets from Teradata to GCP is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including star/snowflake schemas and dimensional modeling.
- Experience working with insurance or claims data systems is a significant advantage.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 per year (Estimated)
