About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled GitHub Migration Specialist to join our team in Dallas, TX. This is a contract position requiring 3 days onsite per week. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing end-to-end migration strategies for repositories, pipelines, artifacts, permissions, and workflows from existing systems to GitHub Enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop end-to-end migration strategies for repositories, pipelines, artifacts, permissions, and workflows.
- Assess current-state DevOps environments and design target-state GitHub Enterprise architectures.
- Define migration patterns, tooling, automation frameworks, and cutover plans.
- Establish governance models for repository structure, branching strategies, and workflow standardization.
- Lead hands-on migration activities using GitHub tools (GHES, GHEC, GitHub Actions, GitHub Advanced Security, GitHub Migration Tools).
- Automate migration processes using scripts, APIs, and GitHub CLI.
- Rebuild or modernize CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions.
- Integrate GitHub with enterprise systems, including SSO, identity providers, security tools, and artifact registries.
- Experience in handling and migrating ADO workloads to GitHub is essential.
Technical Skills Required:
- Proven experience with GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES) and GitHub Enterprise Cloud (GHEC).
- Proficiency in GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipeline automation.
- Experience with GitHub Advanced Security features.
- Familiarity with GitHub Migration Tools.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
- Experience migrating from Azure DevOps (ADO) to GitHub.
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
- Experience with integrating GitHub with enterprise security and identity management systems.
