About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Global Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring our company adheres to all international trade regulations, particularly concerning the determination of the Country of Origin (COO) for our products. You will be responsible for analyzing complex manufacturing processes, bills of materials, and costed components to accurately assess substantial transformation and tariff shift rules.
- Analyze Bills of Materials (BOMs), manufacturing processes, and costed components to assess substantial transformation and tariff shift rules.
- Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and ensure alignment with COO determinations.
- Support preferential and non-preferential origin determinations and issue or validate Certificates of Origin.
- Maintain and audit origin documentation, supplier affidavits, and long-term supplier declarations.
- Partner with sourcing, engineering, procurement, and suppliers to gather accurate manufacturing and origin data.
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, customs valuation, marking, and labeling requirements.
- Monitor changes in global trade regulations and assess impact to COO, duty exposure, and supply chain strategy.
- Support customs audits, prior disclosures, and internal compliance reviews.
- Manage duty savings initiatives including FTA qualification, duty drawback, and tariff mitigation strategies.
- Provide guidance on COO and trade compliance to internal stakeholders and global partners.
- Maintain trade compliance systems and databases to ensure accurate reporting and traceability.
- Resolve customs issues related to origin disputes, verifications, or requests for information (CF28/CF29).
- Prepare reports and metrics related to trade compliance, COO accuracy, and operational performance.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in global trade compliance, with a strong focus on Country of Origin (COO) determination.
- In-depth knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and customs regulations.
- Experience with trade compliance software and databases.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Law, or a related field.
- Experience with import/export documentation and procedures.
- Familiarity with Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and duty savings programs.
