Role Summary
We are looking for a Guidewire Policy Center Developer Lead to spearhead our technical delivery team in Worcester, MA. This hybrid role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain and extensive experience in Guidewire Suite development. As a Lead Developer, you will not only contribute to high-level coding and configuration but also provide strategic technical leadership, mentoring junior developers and ensuring that our solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives. This position requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter and a strong background in Java and Gosu programming.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the customization and enhancement of PolicyCenter workflows, entities, business rules, and user interfaces using Gosu, PCF, and Guidewire Studio.
- Design and maintain complex integrations between PolicyCenter and external systems such as BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, and various third-party services using REST/SOAP APIs and messaging queues.
- Collaborate with architects and business analysts to translate complex requirements into robust technical designs within an Agile framework.
- Develop reusable components and frameworks to streamline future development and improve overall system maintainability.
- Conduct rigorous code reviews and enforce coding standards to ensure high-quality deliverables and optimal application performance.
- Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning within the team.
- Provide expert-level production support, including root cause analysis and resolution of critical defects in the PolicyCenter environment.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure timely project delivery.
Technical Stack & Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter development and integration.
- Proficiency in Gosu programming, Guidewire Studio, and PCF configuration is mandatory.
- Strong background in Java development and experience with web services (SOAP/REST).
- Familiarity with modern development tools such as Jira, Git/Bitbucket, Ant, Maven, and Gradle.
- Experience with API testing tools like SOAP UI and Postman.
- Deep understanding of P&C insurance domain data modeling and business processes.
- Guidewire certifications in PolicyCenter or Integration are highly preferred.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position requiring at least 2 days per week onsite at our Worcester, MA office. Compensation & Location
Salary: $160,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)
