Position Summary
Vizon Inc. is looking for a seasoned IBM i / AS400 Developer for a hybrid role based in Hartford, CT. This position is ideal for a technical expert with over a decade of experience in RPG development who is looking to contribute to the modernization and maintenance of mission-critical enterprise systems. The role requires a local candidate who can participate in a hybrid work schedule and possesses a strong professional presence, including a verified LinkedIn profile.
Core Technical Skills
- 10+ years of intensive experience in RPG400, RPG IV, and RPGLE (Free-form preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in CL/400 and CLLE for system automation and job control.
- Expertise in DB2/400 and SQL for complex data management and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with OS/400, Query/400, DSPF, PRTF, and IFS.
- Proficiency in modern development tools including Visual Studio Code (RPGLE/CLLE) and Git.
- Experience with MKS Implementer for DevOps integration, builds, and deployments.
- Familiarity with legacy tools such as SEU, PDM, DFU/DBU, SDA, RLU, and Hawkeye.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the full SDLC of AS400 applications, from initial requirement analysis through to maintenance and production support. You will reverse-engineer legacy code to implement enhancements, debug complex system issues, and optimize existing RPG/CL programs for better performance. A significant portion of the role involves preparing comprehensive test plans and technical documentation to ensure system reliability. You will also work within a structured DevOps environment, utilizing modern version control and deployment methodologies to streamline the development lifecycle.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $150,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
