Role Overview: Informatica IDMC Data Lineage Specialist
KK Software Associates is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Informatica IDMC Data Lineage Specialist for a long-term, 12+ month remote engagement. This role is a cornerstone of our client’s enterprise data governance and metadata management strategy. As organizations move toward data-driven decision-making, the need for clear, accurate, and automated data lineage has never been greater. You will focus on implementing, managing, and optimizing data lineage capabilities using the Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) and the Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC). Your work will ensure data transparency, regulatory compliance, and organizational trust by providing a comprehensive view of how data flows from source systems to consumption points, including all intermediate transformations.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Leadership
- Configure and implement Informatica IDMC data lineage capabilities, including the setup of metadata scanners and complex parsers.
- Build and maintain end-to-end data lineage maps for critical data assets across a diverse ecosystem including Snowflake, Oracle, and SQL Server.
- Collaborate closely with Data Governance, Data Engineering, and Business Intelligence teams to identify and onboard key metadata sources.
- Validate lineage paths and resolve technical gaps to ensure the absolute accuracy and quality of the metadata repository.
- Automate metadata ingestion from a wide variety of source systems, including ETL tools like Informatica PowerCenter/IICS and BI platforms like Tableau.
- Develop custom metadata parsers and lineage connectors using APIs or Informatica-provided SDKs for non-standard or legacy systems.
- Support critical regulatory compliance initiatives (such as GDPR, HIPAA, or CCPA) by providing auditable and accurate lineage mapping.
- Design and maintain enterprise-wide metadata management workflows, policies, and lineage documentation standards.
- Train and support business and technical users on how to effectively access and interpret lineage through the Informatica Data Catalog UI.
- Perform impact analysis for proposed changes to upstream data structures, minimizing the risk of downstream breakages.
- Contribute to the broader data strategy by identifying opportunities for data rationalization and quality improvement through lineage insights.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive, hands-on experience with Informatica IDMC (Intelligent Data Management Cloud) and Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC).
- A proven track record of successfully implementing data lineage and metadata management solutions in large, complex enterprise environments.
- Strong technical proficiency in modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake) and traditional relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server).
- Deep understanding of ETL/ELT processes, specifically using Informatica PowerCenter and Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS).
- Experience with BI and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker, and their integration with metadata catalogs.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data quality principles, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- The ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment, demonstrating strong self-management and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a meticulous approach to documenting complex data transformation logic.

Compensation & Location
