Role Overview

The Senior Infrastructure Cloud ITSM Architect is a pivotal leadership position designed to bridge the gap between high-level cloud strategy and operational excellence. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and operationalizing Cloud Infrastructure Operations for a premier enterprise client in the New York City area. This position requires a hybrid commitment, working 2-3 days onsite at our Midtown NYC location. As a lead architect, you will ensure the reliability, performance, and operational integrity of complex multicloud environments, spanning major platforms like Azure and AWS. Your primary focus will be on establishing a standardized, resilient operational framework that delivers consistent service availability, operational efficiency, and strict compliance with enterprise engineering and governance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Operations & Reliability: You will lead the effort to strengthen Network Operations Center (NOC) automation and monitoring. This includes improving network observability and telemetry to ensure proactive issue detection and resolution. You will be tasked with automating network configuration and change workflows to minimize human error and increase deployment speed.
  • Observability & Automation: Building enterprise-wide observability for logs, metrics, and traces is a core component of this role. You will implement advanced automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Bicep, and CloudFormation. Furthermore, you will automate patching, deployment, rollback, and configuration management to maintain a high state of readiness.
  • FinOps & Cost Optimization: You will mature FinOps practices by implementing automated budgeting, governance, and reporting. This ensures that cloud spend is optimized and aligned with business value, providing transparency and accountability across the organization.
  • Infrastructure & Cloud Architecture: Design and mature a standardized cloud foundation across Azure and AWS. You will implement network segmentation and zero-trust principles to secure the environment. Leading cloud modernization and workload transformation initiatives will be a key part of your strategic roadmap.
  • ITSM (Incident, Problem, Change Management): You will enhance IM/PM/CM processes to ensure high availability. This includes implementing automated change pipelines with robust rollback mechanisms to safeguard the production environment.
  • Security & Vulnerability Remediation: Integrate CVE remediation workflows using industry-leading tools like Tanium, Wiz, CrowdStrike, and Veracode. You will leverage native security tools for continuous scanning and implement automated remediation to close vulnerabilities rapidly.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 years in infrastructure and cloud architecture roles, with a proven track record of managing large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Cloud Expertise: Advanced, hands-on expertise in both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) foundations.
  • Scripting & Automation: Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, and Bash are essential for driving automation across the stack.
  • Tooling: Preferred hands-on experience with observability and security tools including Datadog, SolarWinds, Tanium, Wiz, CrowdStrike, Veracode, Ansible, and Terraform.
  • ITSM Knowledge: Deep understanding of ITSM processes, specifically Incident, Problem, and Change management frameworks.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Certifications: AWS or Azure Architect certifications are strongly desired.

Strategic Impact and Leadership

As a Senior Infrastructure Cloud ITSM Architect, your influence extends beyond technical implementation. You will serve as a strategic advisor to stakeholders, helping to align IT infrastructure with broader business objectives. By maturing the cloud foundation and implementing zero-trust security models, you directly contribute to the organization’s resilience against evolving cyber threats. Your work in FinOps will provide the financial clarity needed for executive decision-making, ensuring that every dollar spent on cloud resources is an investment in growth. You will be expected to mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the infrastructure team.

Collaboration and Communication

Success in this role requires exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate across diverse teams. You will work closely with security teams to integrate vulnerability remediation into the development lifecycle, and with finance teams to manage cloud budgets. Your ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business insights will be critical during high-level briefings. Whether you are coordinating a major change through the ITSM pipeline or leading a post-incident review to improve system reliability, your leadership will be the glue that holds the operational framework together.

Special Requirements

Hybrid 2-3 Days onsite location / NYC midtown. Long term Contract. Requires expertise in Azure/AWS and ITSM.
