Role Overview

The Infrastructure Project Manager role is a senior-level position requiring a minimum of eight years of IT project management experience, with at least five years specifically focused on infrastructure projects. This role is central to maintaining and upgrading the technological backbone of a major healthcare client, specifically following the PMO processes of Ascension. The Infrastructure PM is responsible for driving projects forward to meet aggressive deadlines and budgets while ensuring that all technical components—networks, storage, and security—are robust and scalable. In the 2026 landscape, this includes managing hybrid cloud environments and ensuring high availability for critical clinical systems. The PM must be adept at navigating complex organizational structures and delivering results in a high-stakes environment where infrastructure stability directly impacts patient safety and provider efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of infrastructure projects, from initiation through closing, adhering to formal PMI standards.
  • Oversee network-related projects involving IP addressing, bandwidth optimization, and latency management.
  • Ensure security protocols are met by managing firewall rules and security terms in alignment with healthcare compliance standards.
  • Coordinate storage and Active Directory upgrades, migrations, and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain essential project documentation including charters, RACI matrices, communication plans, test plans, and detailed project schedules.
  • Manage project resource plans and budgets within ServiceNow (PPM).
  • Facilitate project meetings, document minutes, and assign tasks to ensure accountability among team members.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues early, providing regular and ad hoc reports to portfolio and tower leadership.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders through transparent communication and data-driven reporting.
  • Adapt communication styles to effectively engage with both technical resources and executive leadership.
  • Support go-live activities, which may include occasional night and weekend work and limited onsite travel (1-4 times per year).

Technical and Professional Requirements

Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 8 years of IT project management experience. Expertise in formal PMI project management processes is required, with a PMP certification highly preferred. Technical knowledge of networks, IP addressing, firewalls, storage, and Active Directory is essential. Proficiency with Google Office Suite (Sheets, Docs, Drive) and ServiceNow is required for daily operations and reporting. The role demands strong organizational and creative problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to drive projects to strict deadlines and budgets. Experience within a healthcare infrastructure environment, particularly following Ascension PMO processes, is a significant advantage. The candidate must be prepared for the rigors of a remote role that requires high levels of self-motivation and the ability to coordinate across disparate time zones and technical teams.
