Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to join the State of Georgia (DHS) team. This is a hybrid role based in Atlanta, GA, with an initial duration of 12 months, subject to extension based on performance. The Project Manager will be responsible for the efficient management of projects and IT changes across the environment, working closely with software vendors, service providers, OIT teams, and DAS business units.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and/or coordinate all tasks for small, medium, and large-sized projects of moderate to high complexity and risk.
  • Provide project management consultation through the project management and software development life cycle.
  • Collaborate closely with DAS business leads, vendor project managers, business analysts, and subject matter experts.
  • Manage projects as scoped by SOWs, vendor Contracts, and project steering committee.
  • Develop project management tools including plans for scope management, risk management, communications, change control, and performance measurement and tracking.
  • Monitor performance and report on project status, including major milestones and potential project risks.
  • Assess variances from the project plan, gather metrics, and implement changes as necessary to ensure projects remain within scope, time, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Conduct formal reviews with business sponsors, OIT leadership, and key clients during project execution and completion to confirm acceptance and satisfaction.
  • Oversee and control ongoing costs, schedules, resources, scope, issues, and risks.
  • Facilitate critical process assessments and redesign for process improvements.
  • Work with the project steering committee and senior project management to improve project processes.
  • Direct project team members to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Ensure that all project team members have the tools and training required to perform effectively.
  • Manage scope by using a variety of data sources to support project negotiations related to time, cost, and/or quality.
  • Develops, monitors, and coordinates project activities, such as scheduling, tracking, and reporting; leads change efforts impacting the projects.
  • Identify specific opportunities or weaknesses within DAS projects and makes specific change recommendations to structures, processes, or people to improve project performance.
  • Provides work direction and leadership to DAS projects, including scheduling, task completions, and review of project efforts.
  • Monitors project milestones and critical dates to identify potential jeopardy of project schedule and identifies ways to resolve schedule issues.
  • Develops and maintains a productive working relationship with project sponsors, vendors, and key clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a related field or specialized training and three years of IT project management experience.
  • PMP certification from PMI or equivalent certification (MUST UPLOAD CERTIFICATION).
  • 7 years’ experience leading projects of moderate to high complexity (must have occurred in the last 10 years).
  • Hands-on experience with MS Project, MS Visio, SharePoint 2013, and MS O365.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $100,000 – $140,000 per year
