Role Overview

The IT Project Manager will serve as the primary technology lead for a high-stakes corporate office construction and remodel project in New York City. This position is critical for ensuring that the technological infrastructure of a five-floor corporate environment is seamlessly integrated with the physical construction lifecycle. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between traditional construction management and modern IT deployment, overseeing everything from initial decommissioning to the final setup of cutting-edge office technologies. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise in infrastructure and the soft skills necessary to manage diverse stakeholders, including construction crews, architects, and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the IT workstream for a multi-floor corporate office renovation, ensuring all technology deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of IT activities, including the decommissioning of legacy hardware and the strategic installation of new infrastructure.
  • Coordinate extensively with third-party vendors, specifically focusing on network cabling, server room build-outs, and ISP circuit delivery.
  • Collaborate daily with onsite contractors, architects, and construction managers to align IT dependencies with the master construction schedule.
  • Oversee the deployment of office technology, including AV systems, conference room setups, and end-user workstations.
  • Act as the central point of contact for all IT-related issues, risks, and escalations throughout the project duration.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate security standards and network architecture during the implementation phase.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project documentation, including floor plans, rack elevations, and cabling schedules.
  • Facilitate regular project status meetings and provide clear, concise updates to the project steering committee.

Technical and Professional Requirements

  • Extensive experience as a Project Manager specifically within the context of corporate office remodels or new construction projects.
  • Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, including structured cabling (Cat6, Fiber), rack elevations, and power requirements for data rooms.
  • Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and hold external partners accountable for high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage complex dependencies in a fast-paced, onsite construction environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical requirements for non-technical construction stakeholders.
  • Must be local to the NYC area and able to work onsite five days a week.
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet) and construction management tools.
  • Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations as they pertain to IT installations.

Project Impact and Strategic Value

This project represents a significant investment in the company’s physical and digital footprint. The IT Project Manager will be responsible for creating a modern, high-performance workspace that supports hybrid work models and advanced collaboration. By successfully managing the technology rollout, the PM will enable hundreds of employees to transition into a state-of-the-art environment with zero downtime and maximum operational efficiency. This role requires a proactive leader who can anticipate roadblocks before they impact the construction timeline. The successful candidate will ensure that the final office space is not just a physical location, but a technologically advanced hub that fosters innovation and productivity for years to come. This includes the implementation of smart building technologies, robust wireless coverage, and seamless integrated communication systems.
