Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Java Architect to lead our technical initiatives in Columbus, Ohio. As a Java Architect, you will be responsible for the high-level design and strategic direction of our enterprise-scale software solutions. This role requires a unique blend of deep technical expertise, hands-on coding ability, and the leadership skills necessary to guide a team of talented engineers through complex architectural decisions. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement end-to-end system architectures for full-stack Java applications, focusing on scalability and performance.
- Lead the migration of legacy systems to public cloud platforms, specifically AWS, utilizing cloud-native services to optimize costs and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain robust microservices architectures using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
- Architect high-throughput data streaming solutions using Apache Kafka and NoSQL databases like Cassandra.
- Establish and enforce best practices for hands-on coding, code reviews, and architectural documentation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications, particularly within the AML/KYC domain.
- Implement comprehensive observability and monitoring strategies using tools like Splunk and Dynatrace to ensure system reliability.
- Drive the adoption of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks to accelerate the software development life cycle.
- Mentor and manage a team of technologists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Ensure all architectural designs comply with strict security and regulatory requirements, especially in the financial services sector.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 14 years of professional experience in software engineering with a strong focus on Java development.
- Proven experience in an Architect role, leading the design of complex, distributed systems.
- Expert-level knowledge of Java, Spring Framework, and microservices architecture.
- Extensive experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS.
- Proficiency in messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
- Strong background in NoSQL and relational databases, specifically Cassandra and PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience with observability tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, or ELK stack.
- Advanced understanding of Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD tools.
- Domain expertise in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance is highly preferred.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $175,000 – $225,000 per year (Estimated)
