Role Overview
SightSpectrum LLC is seeking a highly experienced Java Developer for a critical onsite project in Maryland. This role is designed for a senior-level professional with at least 13 years of hands-on experience in the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be a local resident or live within a 100-mile radius of the Maryland facility, as the selection process involves a mandatory in-person interview. This is a contract position that offers the opportunity to work on high-impact systems within a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full development lifecycle, from initial concept and design to testing and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex Java-based applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
- Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.
- Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and standards.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for application components.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure the application remains modern and efficient.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Optimize application performance for maximum speed and scalability.
- Implement security and data protection measures.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 13 years of professional experience in Java development.
- Expertise in Java 8+, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
- Strong understanding of Microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies such as Angular or React is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of software design patterns and SOLID principles.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of build tools like Maven or Gradle.
- Experience with unit testing frameworks like JUnit or Mockito.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $150,000 – $190,000 per year (Estimated)
