Position Summary: Senior Java/Golang Developer (Ex-Capital One)
We are seeking a highly specialized Senior Software Developer with a unique blend of Java and Golang expertise for a high-priority project in McLean, Virginia. This role is exclusively open to candidates who have prior experience working within the Capital One environment, as a deep understanding of their specific architectural patterns, security frameworks, and internal engineering culture is essential for success. Core Technical Responsibilities
- Architect and develop scalable microservices using Java (Spring Boot) and Golang to support high-volume financial transactions.
- Design and implement robust RESTful APIs that adhere to strict security and compliance standards characteristic of the banking industry.
- Leverage AWS cloud-native services, including Lambda, ECS, and DynamoDB, to build resilient, serverless, and containerized applications.
- Utilize Scala for specialized data processing and functional programming tasks where performance and type safety are paramount.
- Implement end-to-end observability using OpenTelemetry to monitor system health and facilitate rapid distributed tracing across microservices.
- Drive the adoption of event-driven architectures using AWS SNS/SQS or Kafka to ensure system decoupling and high availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to migrate legacy Java components to high-performance Golang services where appropriate.
- Participate in rigorous peer code reviews and contribute to the evolution of internal engineering standards.
Candidate Qualifications and Requirements
- Mandatory prior experience at Capital One, with a demonstrable track record of delivering high-quality software within their ecosystem.
- Expert-level proficiency in Java and a strong, professional working knowledge of Golang for backend development.
- Extensive experience with the AWS stack, specifically focusing on compute (Lambda, ECS) and NoSQL database technologies (DynamoDB).
- Solid understanding of microservices design patterns, including service discovery, circuit breaking, and API gateway integration.
- Experience with OpenTelemetry for monitoring and distributed tracing in a complex, multi-service environment.
- Ability to work onsite in McLean, VA, and engage in high-bandwidth, face-to-face collaboration with product and engineering teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate the complexities of a large-scale financial institution’s technical landscape.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $165,000 – $210,000 per year
