Job Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated JAVA Tech Lead with a strong background in the credit card domain, specifically with TSYS experience. This is a long-term contract position located in Naperville, IL, offering a hybrid work model. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading Java/tech teams and delivering complex projects within the financial services sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of Java developers, providing technical guidance and functional clarity.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of Java-based solutions, with a focus on credit card platforms and TSYS.
- Ensure the successful delivery of projects related to product setup, account lifecycle management, plan/fee/interest configurations, disputes/chargebacks, statementing, batch cycles, and settlement/reconciliation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, and manage expectations.
- Drive best practices in software engineering, including microservices architecture, REST APIs, and SQL database design and performance tuning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation.
Required Skills and Experience
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with recent hands-on leadership experience.
- Extensive experience in delivering projects within the credit card domain, with a strong emphasis on TSYS.
- In-depth knowledge of card issuer functionalities, including TSYS platform exposure (e.g., TS).
- Proficiency in Java 8/11+, Spring Boot, Spring Data/Security, REST APIs, and microservices.
- Strong SQL and relational database design/performance tuning skills.
- Proven experience as a Domain Lead, Project Lead, or Functional Lead in card platforms.
- Solid understanding of card integrations, ISO message flows, batch/file processing, and operational processes.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
- Ability to guide technical teams with functional clarity.
