About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Data Architect with deep expertise in Google Spanner to design and implement large-scale, high-availability data solutions. This role involves defining canonical data models, architecting distributed transactional systems, and optimizing performance for petabyte-scale, multi-region OLTP systems. You will play a critical role in leading architectural decisions, mentoring engineering teams, and ensuring the readiness of systems for large-scale migration and deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and design canonical data models and Spanner-based architectures.
- Architect scalable and distributed transactional systems.
- Optimize performance, scalability, and data consistency for high-traffic applications.
- Validate data contracts, query semantics, and system behavior.
- Lead architectural decisions and mentor engineering teams on best practices.
- Ensure readiness for large-scale migration and deployment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex data-related issues.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in distributed database technologies and cloud platforms.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in large-scale Data Architecture.
- Strong expertise in Google Spanner (TrueTime, distributed transactions, synchronous replication).
- Experience designing high availability, high performance, low latency systems.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems & consistency models.
- Expertise in data modeling (logical & physical schemas).
- Hands-on experience with multi-region OLTP systems (petabyte-scale).
- Experience with transaction design, atomicity & consistency trade-offs.
- Knowledge of indexing strategies, denormalization, and materialized views.
- Ability to handle performance tuning (hotspots, conflicts, scaling issues).
- Experience in Oracle to distributed database migration (preferred).
- Strong leadership and stakeholder communication skills.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 per year (Estimated)
