Position Summary

We are seeking a Lead Data Engineer with a strong background in AWS and Snowflake to join our team in Jersey City. This hybrid role (4 days onsite) is critical for driving our data engineering initiatives within the insurance sector. As a lead, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our data infrastructure supports advanced analytics and business intelligence, particularly in the areas of claims and loss processing. The 2026 data landscape demands a high level of automation and cloud native expertise, and this role is designed for a leader who can navigate these complexities with ease.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and implementation of data solutions leveraging AWS services (Glue, EMR, S3, Aurora, RDS) and Snowflake.
  • Develop and maintain high-performance data pipelines using PySpark and Python.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver actionable data insights.
  • Ensure the integrity, security, and quality of data throughout the ingestion and processing lifecycle.
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval to support large-scale data warehousing and analytics.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to a team of junior data engineers.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tools like Jenkins and Git.
  • Apply Big Data concepts to solve complex data challenges and improve system efficiency.
  • Drive the adoption of Data Vault 2.0 and other modern data modeling practices.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes.

Technical Stack & Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering and delivery.
  • Extensive experience with Big Data concepts and cloud implementations.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Glue, EMR, S3, Aurora, and RDS.
  • Expertise in Snowflake data warehousing.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git) and CI/CD practices.
  • Knowledge of Data Vault 2.0 and data migration strategies.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Domain Expertise & Soft Skills

  • Experience in the insurance industry, specifically with claims and loss data, is highly preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $185,000 – $245,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Jersey City, NJ
