Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Data Platform Engineering Strategy professional to spearhead our data initiatives within the Payments and Transaction Banking domain. This is a strategic leadership role requiring a deep understanding of high-volume financial data processing, architectural strategy, and the evolving landscape of global payments. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining the roadmap for our next-generation data platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and real-time processing capabilities that meet the rigorous demands of modern banking.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive data platform strategy tailored for payments and transaction banking services.
- Lead the architectural design of scalable data pipelines, data lakes, and real-time streaming solutions using technologies such as Spark, Kafka, and Snowflake.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders in the Payments and Banking divisions to align data engineering efforts with business objectives.
- Oversee the migration of legacy data systems to modern, cloud-native infrastructures while maintaining data integrity and compliance.
- Establish best practices for data governance, metadata management, and data quality across the enterprise.
- Drive innovation in data engineering by evaluating emerging technologies and implementing proof-of-concepts for transaction monitoring and fraud detection.
- Mentor and lead a team of senior data engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all data platforms adhere to strict financial regulations, including AML, KYC, and global data privacy standards.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in data engineering, with at least 5 years in a strategic leadership or lead architect capacity.
- Proven expertise in the Payments or Transaction Banking domain, including knowledge of clearing systems, settlement processes, and ISO 20022 standards.
- Expert-level proficiency in cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and distributed computing frameworks.
- Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as data modeling for complex financial transactions.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement high-availability, low-latency data architectures.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical executive audiences.
Work Environment
This position is based in New York City and follows a hybrid work model, requiring 2 to 3 days per week in the office. This allows for a balance of collaborative in-person strategy sessions and focused remote execution. Compensation & Location
Salary: $185,000 – $265,000 per year (Estimated)
