Role Overview

GSK Solutions is looking for a seasoned Lead QA Tester to support Agency Services for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). This critical role focuses on the Vital Records area, which is responsible for the registration, preservation, and issuance of essential documents such as birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates. As a Lead Testing Analyst (Software Test Analyst 5), you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and reliability of applications like EDRS, BRS, and VERA, which support public health policy and biomedical research. This is a hybrid position based in Lansing, MI, requiring two days of onsite presence per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all testing activities for complex public health applications, ensuring alignment with project schedules and budgetary constraints.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans, test strategies, and test artifacts based on detailed user stories and business requirements.
  • Review and analyze requirement documents to ensure they are testable, measurable, and compliant with organizational standards.
  • Manage the end-to-end defect lifecycle, from identification and recording to verification and closure, using tools like Azure DevOps.
  • Prepare accurate testing estimates for both new projects and ongoing maintenance support activities.
  • Conduct functional testing, system integration testing (SIT), and load testing, sharing detailed results and metrics with the project team.
  • Design and implement automated test plans and scripts using tools such as Provar, Selenium, or Smartbear.
  • Mentor and guide junior testing team members, providing feedback on best practices and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Facilitate communication between Lead Business Analysts and the testing team, escalating key issues as necessary to ensure project success.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups and retrospectives, to provide updates on testing status and defect resolution.

Required Qualifications

  • Over 8 years of experience leading QA testing efforts, specifically in functional and system integration testing.
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for large-scale projects.
  • Proven track record (5+ years) in defect management and prioritization within a complex enterprise environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience mentoring testing teams and promoting quality assurance best practices.
  • Strong proficiency (5+ years) in using Azure DevOps or similar tools for test case management and planning.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with automated testing tools, with a preference for Provar, Selenium, or Smartbear.
  • Experience in the Public Health domain or government sector is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid model in Lansing, MI, and attend in-person interviews.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $110,000 – $150,000 per year (Estimated)
