Role Overview: Lead Workday Finance Transformation

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Workday Finance Consultant to spearhead a high-profile Oracle-to-Workday Finance transformation for a major enterprise client. This role is pivotal in managing a large-scale team of approximately 50 members and requires a unique blend of technical mastery, strategic decision-making, and hands-on configuration expertise. As the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Finance organization, you will be responsible for the technical leadership, architectural design, and successful execution of the migration from legacy Oracle systems to a modern Workday ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities and Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of Workday Financials, ensuring a seamless transition from Oracle legacy systems.
  • Act as the primary technical authority for Workday Finance, providing guidance on configuration strategy, security models, and reporting frameworks.
  • Deeply configure and optimize core financial modules including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Fixed Assets, and Procurement.
  • Drive the solution design process, ensuring that business requirements are translated into scalable and efficient Workday configurations.
  • Partner with executive leadership to evaluate and define resource strategies, including the balance between internal builds, training initiatives, and contractor engagement.
  • Provide detailed effort estimations, project timelines, and market rate analysis for specialized Workday resources.
  • Oversee the development of complex integrations and advanced reporting to ensure data accuracy and business intelligence capabilities.
  • Mentor and guide internal team members who may be transitioning from other ERP systems, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
  • Manage project governance, risk assessment, and issue resolution to ensure a successful go-live and post-production stabilization.

Technical Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proven track record of leading multiple end-to-end Workday Finance implementations or large-scale migrations.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Workday configuration, security groups, and business process design.
  • Deep functional knowledge of financial accounting processes and how they translate into Workday functionality.
  • Strong expertise in Workday Reporting, including Matrix, Composite, and Advanced reports.
  • Familiarity with SQL and Python for data analytics, automation, or complex data reconciliation tasks is highly preferred.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical business leaders.
  • Experience managing large vendor teams or contractor groups in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Prior experience in the financial services or large corporate sector is a significant plus.

This position offers a unique opportunity to lead one of the most significant financial transformations in the region. You will be at the forefront of modernizing financial operations for a major organization, utilizing the latest Workday features to drive efficiency and transparency. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader who is not afraid to get hands-on with configuration while maintaining a high-level strategic view of the project’s success.
