Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Linux Systems Engineer for a 6-month contract role. This is a 100% onsite position, and local candidates are strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing enterprise RedHat Unix/Linux solutions, with a focus on large-scale environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage enterprise RedHat Unix/Linux solutions, preferably in large-scale environments.
  • Develop and maintain strong scripting skills, particularly in Python.
  • Provide deep knowledge and experience supporting RHEL 8 & 9.
  • Configure and manage LDAP services.
  • Support virtualization environments, specifically VMware.
  • Perform hands-on hardware maintenance for computer systems.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Drive continuous improvement in system performance and reliability.
  • Utilize RedHat Kickstart and configuration management tools (Puppet preferred).
  • Automate systems services and tasks to streamline operations and ensure consistency.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolve complex system problems.
  • Experience supporting servers in cloud environments is preferred.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills, including verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal.
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making, prioritization, and negotiation skills.
  • Show passion and accountability for the environment managed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience managing enterprise RedHat Unix/Linux solutions.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience supporting RHEL 8 & 9.
  • Proficient with LDAP configuration and management.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware).
  • Hands-on experience with computer hardware maintenance.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Familiarity with RedHat Kickstart and configuration management tools (Puppet preferred).
  • Proven ability to automate systems services and tasks.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Cloud server support experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong decision-making and prioritization abilities.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $70,000 – $100,000 per year (Estimated)
