Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated MacOS Developer to join our engineering team in San Diego, California. This onsite position is ideal for a developer who thrives in a collaborative environment and possesses a deep passion for the Apple ecosystem. As a MacOS Developer, you will be at the forefront of creating seamless, high-performance applications that leverage the latest technologies provided by Apple. The successful candidate will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the application, from initial concept and architectural design to deployment and ongoing maintenance. You will work closely with product managers and other stakeholders to ensure that our software meets the highest standards of quality and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build sophisticated applications for the macOS platform using Swift and SwiftUI.
- Maintain and enhance existing codebases written in Objective-C, ensuring compatibility and performance across different versions of macOS.
- Implement robust local data storage solutions using SQLite, Core Data, or the modern SwiftData framework, ensuring data integrity and efficient retrieval.
- Contribute significantly to the architectural design and technical direction of our macOS and iOS product lines, making informed decisions about frameworks and libraries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including UI/UX designers and backend engineers, to deliver integrated solutions that provide a cohesive user experience.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and stability, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
- Debug and resolve complex technical issues across the application stack, utilizing advanced debugging tools and techniques.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and Apple’s evolving developer tools, guidelines, and hardware capabilities.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality and share knowledge within the team.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for application features and architectural designs.
Technical Requirements
- Extensive hands-on experience in macOS application development, with a portfolio of successful projects.
- Expert-level proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI is a must, including a deep understanding of state management and view composition.
- Strong background in Objective-C programming for legacy support and integration with C-based libraries.
- Proven experience with local persistence layers such as Core Data or SwiftData, including migration strategies and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with Mac Catalyst for porting iPad apps to Mac is highly desirable, as is experience with AppKit.
- Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team-oriented structure, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent professional experience will be considered.
