Role Overview
We are currently seeking a seasoned Mainframe Developer for a high-impact, remote-eligible position based out of Columbus, OH. This specific role is tailored for candidates who possess prior experience within the JPMorgan Chase (JPMC) ecosystem, as the project involves deep integration with existing financial frameworks and legacy systems unique to that environment. As a Senior Mainframe Developer, you will be at the forefront of maintaining and evolving critical application infrastructure that supports large-scale financial transactions and data management. This position requires a blend of technical mastery in legacy systems and a forward-thinking approach to application modernization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
- Manage and optimize Mainframe DB2 application development and administration (AMS) to ensure high-speed data retrieval and integrity.
- Oversee CICS Administration tasks, ensuring that online transaction processing systems are robust, scalable, and highly available.
- Collaborate with systems architects and business analysts to translate high-level business requirements into detailed technical specifications.
- Perform rigorous debugging and troubleshooting of production issues, providing rapid resolution to minimize business disruption.
- Conduct performance tuning of existing mainframe code and SQL queries to improve system throughput and reduce operational overhead.
- Mentor junior developers and participate in peer code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality and security.
- Ensure all development activities comply with financial industry regulations and internal security protocols.
- Document all technical processes, architectural changes, and system configurations to support long-term maintenance and knowledge transfer.
Technical Requirements
- A minimum of 6 to 8 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe application development and systems analysis.
- Expert-level proficiency in Mainframe DB2, including both application development and database administration (AMS) functions.
- Extensive experience with CICS Administration and the management of online transaction environments.
- Strong command of core mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and TSO/ISPF.
- Proven experience working within the JPMorgan Chase (JPMC) technical environment is strictly required for this engagement.
- Familiarity with modern mainframe tools and integration patterns, such as RESTful APIs for mainframe or DevOps for z/OS.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex technical problems in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering field is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering successful mainframe projects within the financial services or banking sector.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment is a significant plus.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $135,000 – $178,000 per year
