Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer for a high-impact 6-month contract role with potential for extension. This position is onsite and can be based in Jersey City, NJ, Dallas, TX, or Tampa, FL. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in IBM mainframe environments and a proven track record of managing complex data movement and batch processing systems within large-scale enterprise architectures.
Core Responsibilities
- Data Movement Management: Demonstrate high proficiency with IBM Sterling Connect:Direct (formerly NDM) to facilitate secure and efficient file transfers across platforms.
- System Development: Design, develop, and maintain applications within the z/OS mainframe environment, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Batch Processing: Create and optimize complex JCL (Job Control Language) scripts to manage large-scale batch processing workflows.
- Protocol Implementation: Implement and troubleshoot various file transfer protocols, including FTP and SFTP, to ensure seamless data integration.
- Subsystem Integration: Work closely with related mainframe subsystems such as CICS for online transaction processing and DB2 for relational database management.
- Network Troubleshooting: Utilize knowledge of TCP/IP within the mainframe context to resolve connectivity and communication issues.
Required Technical Qualifications
- Mainframe Expertise: Extensive experience working in a z/OS environment with a focus on system stability and performance tuning.
- Tool Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of IBM Sterling Connect:Direct is a primary requirement for this engagement.
- Scripting: Mastery of JCL for the automation and scheduling of batch jobs.
- Database & Middleware: Practical experience with DB2 and CICS is highly preferred to support integrated application environments.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills are required for this onsite role to collaborate effectively with infrastructure and application teams.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $135,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
