Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Developer to join our engineering team in Wilmington, DE. This onsite role involves developing and implementing robust solutions for complex banking challenges. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of legacy systems and the ability to modernize and optimize data-driven processes within a high-stakes financial environment. You will be responsible for the full development lifecycle, from initial design to production support, ensuring that all applications meet the highest standards of security and performance.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality code for complex banking applications using COBOL, JCL, and VSAM.
- Create detailed architecture and design documentation that translates business requirements into technical specifications while adhering to design constraints.
- Develop secure and efficient sub-systems that integrate seamlessly with existing mainframe and distributed environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, working closely with product teams and stakeholders to understand and decompose complex requirements.
- Proactively identify opportunities for operational efficiency and challenge conventional approaches with creative, out-of-the-box solutions.
- Build and maintain new test regions to support rigorous quality assurance and deployment cycles.
- Implement and manage message queuing solutions using MQ Series to ensure reliable data transmission between systems.
- Work within IMS DB and DB2 environments to manage large-scale financial data sets.
- Ensure compliance with banking regulations and platform standards throughout the development lifecycle.
- Utilize version control systems to manage codebases and collaborate effectively with team members.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience in mainframe development with a focus on COBOL, JCL, and VSAM.
- Mandatory expertise in CICS Programming, including CICS Screen Programming.
- Mandatory experience coding in MQ Series and IMS DB.
- Strong background in the Banking domain, specifically within Compliance and Regulatory platforms.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience with modern development methodologies and version control tools.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $120,000 – $160,000 per year (Estimated)
