Position Overview
Delta System & Software, Inc. is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer for a long-term modernization project located onsite in Wilmington, Delaware. This role is critical for an organization undergoing a significant digital transformation, moving from legacy mainframe structures to modernized, decoupled architectures. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing existing legacy code, documenting complex business logic, and executing the migration of services into stored procedures. This is a high-visibility role that requires a blend of deep technical expertise in COBOL/DB2 and a forward-thinking approach to software modernization.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive analysis of existing Mainframe codebases to extract business logic and create technical documentation.
- Lead Mainframe modernization efforts, focusing on decoupling schemas and migrating logic into Stored Procedures.
- Develop and optimize Mainframe batch processes and DB2 queries to ensure maximum system efficiency.
- Execute Query Analysis and Optimization to improve performance during the schema decoupling phase.
- Manage version control using Changeman and oversee job scheduling via Control-M.
- Provide high-level Production Support, including debugging complex production issues and performing root cause analysis.
- Facilitate secure data movement using MFTS and NDM (Network Data Mover) protocols.
- Collaborate with database administrators and system architects to ensure data integrity during migration phases.
Technical Skill Set
- Expert-level knowledge of Mainframe environments, including COBOL, JCL, and CICS.
- Advanced proficiency in DB2, specifically with Stored Procedures and Query Optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Mainframe Modernization tools and methodologies.
- Proficiency in scheduling tools such as Control-M and versioning tools like Changeman.
- Experience with file transfer protocols including MFTS and NDM.
- Strong analytical skills for legacy code reverse-engineering and documentation.
Professional Requirements
- Proven experience in large-scale Mainframe migration or modernization projects.
- Ability to work onsite in Wilmington, DE on a full-time basis.
- Strong communication skills to interact with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented approach to documentation and version control.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $115,000 – $170,000 per year (Estimated)
